The Old Vines The original vineyards were first planted in 1971. Many of these now look more like small trees than they do vines. Some old trunks have been cut down and replaced with a starter shoot that still shares the old vine’s well-established root system. |

The New Vines We continue to expand our acres of vineyards. The new vines are planted in a north-south orientation. They include more of our traditional varieties as well as some new Italian varieties like Sangiovese and Barbera. |

"Cabernet Hill" Our Cabernet Sauvignon vines are planted in a solid shale hillside behind the winery. It was not until the 1990s that we could afford to develop this hillside, as we had to hire heavy equipment to drill into the shale rock. These vines and the method in which they are farmed is in part what make our Cabernet Sauvignon wines so superior in flavor and quality. |
